Book Return

There are two book returns.

As you enter the library, you will notice a book drop in the wall to your left.  Items may be returned through the slot.  Please do not leave your returns on the desk as they remain your responsibility until they are checked in and removed from your account.

In the hallway outside the library, there is a slot in the window located just outside the library entrance for after hours returns.

Types of Accounts

Library staff can provide details about your account (due dates, overdue information, renewals, bills) or you can view your account online.

To view your account information or renew available items, click here.  When the My Account window opens, input your student/staff/library card number as your User ID and enter your PIN.  If you do not know your PIN, contact the library.

Detailed Account Information

Sault College Students

Your Campus One student card is your library card.  This card permits you to borrow circulating materials, AV equipment, and course reserves.

Continuing Education and Apprenticeship students will be issued a paper card by their instructor.  You must present this card to borrow library materials, AV equipment, or course reserves.

Students from other Academic Institutions

Upon presentation of a valid student card, students who are currently registered at any post-secondary institution are eligible for a Sault College library card.  This card will permit three books to be borrowed.  Other types of materials may be used within the library but may not be borrowed with this type of account.

College Staff

Your employee ID card is your library card.  All college employees receive borrowing privileges.

Community Borrowers

Members of the community may purchase a library card at a cost of $10/year.  This card will permit three books to be borrowed.  Other types of materials may be used within the library but may not be borrowed with this type of acount.  Community borrowers do not have access to computer resources.  Contact the library for further information about accessing academic computer resources.

Reserves

Instructors may choose to place materials on reserve in the library for their students.  Reserves are held behind the Circulation Desk and can be borrowed for a period of time set by the instructor, this ranges from the default "3 hour, library use only" to "3 weeks at home use".

Material will usually be assignment specific, though we do have standard course material that Instructors want available at all time.

Course text books will not be found on the reserves shelf.

The library also has a number of general purpose reserves, like Cites & Sources, dictionaries, etc, that can be used by any student within the library.

To borrow a reserve, students must:

  1. Ask for the material at the Circulation Desk
  2. Have their student card with them - student cards act as library cards, the library cannot check out material without the card being present
