Orientations & Tours

Library staff can provide a demonstration of database searching or a library orientation for your students.  It will improve their research skills, enhance their learning experience, and provide them with basic information literacy skills.

The most successful orientations are those that are specifically related to the course or a graded assignment.  Sessions can be tailored for your class and could include an orientation to the databases, a demonstration of search skills, discussion of how to evaluate electronic sources, a tour of the library, and an introduction to our services.  Orientations to the databases and electronic resources are held in the E-Wing computer labs.

Upon request, library staff can also develop a faculty workshop on electronic searching or any other library topic.

Assignment Creation

We meet many of your students when they ask for assistance finding information for their assignments.  We encourage you to send us a copy of your assignment in advance so that we are better prepared to assist your students.  You may also wish to discuss assignments with library staff ahead of time to ensure that the library has materials on the assigned topic and that all students working on the same assignment will be able to access materials.

Instructors are encouraged to leave copies of reading lists and research assignments at the library as this helps us ensure that students' research needs are satisfied.
